The artist behind MKK Murals

Hi! My name is Margaret Kops Kuveke. I am a muralist of six years based in Ithaca, New York. I am known for my use of bright color palettes, clean lines, and bold shapes. My work often prompts viewers to reflect on their relationship with the natural world and their sacred place amongst the land and earth’s beings. I view murals as agents of place-making, a means of sharing stories of heritage and identity, and the perfect way to build community.

Some fun facts about me:

In my spare time, you will probably find me at the gym. I have competed nationally in powerlifting, done a bikini bodybuilding show, and enjoy calisthenics.

I studied French and psychology at Cornell University, and after graduating I worked as a researcher for an early childhood education toy company.

I love to travel. I have been lucky enough to visit 20 countries (and counting)!

I engage in other mediums, including print-making, mosaics, ink, and origami. Additional hobbies of mine include iceskating and being an avid progressive post-hardcore enjoyer.
